Sealants
Fissure sealants provide protection from tooth decay in the biting surfaces
of adult teeth (which emerge into the mouth from 6 years of age). This
very simple treatment involves the drizzling of plastic resin into the
grooves and fissures of these teeth, without the need to numb the mouth
and takes very little time to complete.
We strongly recommend the application of fissure sealants if your child has already suffered tooth decay in their first teeth but all children will benefit from tooth decay being prevented.
Placed by our dental therapist, fissure sealants cost £30 per tooth (£15 if a member of the Child Dental Plan).
